Mission

Rehinge, A New Chapter in a Complex Mind

The purpose of Rehinge is to provide hope, education, and spiritual inspiration for all people affected with mental health issues and to fight stigma while pushing for global mental health reform.

Rehinge was conceptualized while thinking about common phrases that are often used in regards to those with mental illness. “That person is off their hinges” or, “That guy is unhinged” are a couple of sayings used that only further stigma towards people with mental illness. In an effort to turn this stigma around, the concept of Rehinge was born. If being mentally ill is to be unhinged, then to be rehinged is to find ways to work with one’s mental condition. Rehinging refers to fitting a new binding on a book, or new hinges on a door. To help those with mental illness to find new ways of renewing themselves is a worthy goal of Rehinge.

2 Let all that I am praise the Lord;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.
3 He forgives all my sins
and heals all my diseases.
4 He redeems me from death
and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
5 He fills my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
— Psalm 103: 2-5

Rehinge’s Future Vision

Rehinge envisions creating advocacy to help others with mental health issues and awareness. Another future goal is to create a platform of knowledge and information to launch others on their path of advocacy. We would like to provide resources such as a list of local elected officials, how they can be contacted, and how advocates can provide them with current information on mental health reform legislation.

Rehinge also envisions a way people can feel comfortable sharing their individual stories, and connect with other people for the purpose of catharsis and support from those who have dealt with the same issues as themselves.

Rehinge will also be seeking to have books published dealing with mental health awareness and advocacy.
